Davarian Baldwin is Paul E. Raether Distinguished Professor of American Studies and founding director of the Smart Cities Lab at Trinity College. His recent book, In the Shadow of the Ivory Tower: How Universities are Plundering Our Cities, explores the relationship between urban universities and the neighborhoods in their shadows. He was interviewed on Jan. 26, 2022, by Michael Kahan, co-director of the Program on Urban Studies and senior lecturer in the Department of Sociology at Stanford.
