Introducing Spokes 2025
Stanford Spokes’ mission is to complete a cross-country bike trek over the summer, from Stanford to Washington, D.C., while offering hands-on learning festivals for young students along the way. The riders are Stanford graduate and undergraduate students and newly-minted alumni who have graduated days before the journey begins.
Stanford Digital Education is honored to support Stanford Spokes for the third consecutive year and so pleased to welcome the 2025 team: Sasha Balasingam, ’27, biology; Nancy Bao, ’28, math/computer science; Puja Chopade, ’27, biology; Fenet Guyassa, ’28, computer science; Adam Hussain, ’25, political science; Daniel Pack, master’s student, mechanical engineering; and Matthew Sullivan, ’28, data science.

The group, which began at Stanford in 2017, forms with a fresh roster of riders for each journey. While the previous team’s knowledge and resources are passed down from year to year, some elements must be reconstituted or created from scratch — and new challenges always arise. Each team brings the strengths and interests of its members, who draft a route, plan lessons that can be adapted for multiple ages, connect with hosts and community centers, and prepare for the physical demands of strenuous days that include major elevation changes, emergency equipment repair, and unpredictable weather.
Find the team on Instagram, where you can learn more about the members’ interests and follow along with their preparation and travel. You can read prior teams’ travel journals on the blog on the Stanford Spokes website.
