He lives with his wife Katie, a videographer and documentary film-maker, on Bainbridge Island, across from Seattle. He has an adult son and daughter as well as two adult step-sons. He enjoys swimming year-round in Puget Sound, reading novels and trying to figure out what to do with all the apples and pears that grow in the back yard.
