SDE Student Fellow

Paloma Gutierrez

A first-generation immigrant to the United States, Paloma grew up in Mexico and graduated as a medical doctor from the Universidad de Colima. Concerned with biases and gender inequities in the medical field, she developed a passion for inclusivity and gender equity. She is currently working toward an Associate in Arts degree in women’s studies at Foothill College to further her understanding and advocacy.

Paloma's work on the team is centered on exploring the confluence of intersectionality and digital disparities. She believes that addressing digital gaps can lead to empowerment, especially for marginalized groups. Moreover, Paloma is enthusiastic about incorporating a feminist pedagogical approach to digital education, ensuring that learning platforms are not only accessible but also equitable.
